NEWĀRK BIO

Wessel Slager (artist name: NEWĀRK) is a Dutch-born musician and producer who discovered his passion for music at a young age. His creative journey began with piano, which he started playing as a child. When he got his first laptop his passion for producing music truly took flight. From there the songs flowed naturally. With NEWĀRK handling nearly every element of production himself—allowing him to craft highly personal and polished sounds.

NEWĀRK’s music serves as a reflection of his life and inner thoughts, with each track offering a story in its own right. Known for his minimalist approach and rich instrumental influences. His sound captures raw emotions while remaining cinematic in nature. His debut project, Flowers That Don’t Exist (2021), was designed to feel like a "movie for your ears," enveloping listeners in vivid, sonic storytelling.

After a two-year hiatus from the online world, NEWĀRK returns with renewed energy and a wealth of fresh material. He just released his new EP, Walkman, You’re Gone Too Fast, where he continues to push creative boundaries. With this new phase of his musical journey listeners can expect much more from NEWĀRK as he embraces the next chapter in his evolving soundscape.
